A Million Dollar Friday Five

Lingering effects of a cold have me watching more television than usual. There appears to be a resurgence of the old daytime staple--the quiz show. Except they are on during prime time, and a great many of them offer the chance of winning one million dollars.

I think it started with Regis Philbin and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" but now we have a half dozen or so.

My husband and I started musing (after watching "Deal or No Deal") about what we could do with a million dollars. I thought I'd just bring that discussion into the Friday Five this week. It's simple. What are five things you would want to do with a million dollar deposit in your bank account?

Well, I don't have a bank account, so I'll just pretend I do.

  1. I would buy a lot of Greenies
  2. I would buy a nice, big house for me and my humans. And maybe TOC, if she's nicer to me in future
  3. I would put part of it into another account to save it for later
  4. Lots of that good, wet tuna food I get in the mornings
  5. I would give a little to all my humans in return for their services

Grumble

Grumble. Grumble. Grumble.
The good-smelly-things are gone. My humans ate them. Grumble.
They ate the yummy things! Before I even got to taste them! Does anyone know how they taste? 'Cuz if I'd known that they taste good, I would've eaten them while I had the chance.

BAD THINGS.

I don't like them. They keep coming. GoG sez that cuz of her alligeez that she has to stop doing it herseff. So these people come and they run the loud dust suckers and scare a cat.

They look like aliens. They scream and growl and make my ears hurt.

They come upstairs. I run into another room.
They come into that room. I run downstairs to the chair wif a skirt. It's my favorite hidey-hole.
They come in THAT room. I run to the basement.
But that's really scarey cuz the basement, that's TOC territory. And she hisses and sez nasty things at me under her bref. SO I hide in nother part of the basement. And it's cold. And i can hear them dust sucking everywhere.

Then it is quiet and they leave.

And GoG is happy and I get Greenies for being a good cat.
But will they be back?
I don't like their noisy dust sucking things.

I need help...

Strange Happenings

Strange things are sitting around in my house.
There are lots...
Green...
Pink...
Purple...
Yellow...
And they sit upon a table with air holes in the packaging...
GoG said something about a "Peep Salad..."
Which I find most suspicious...
And they smell yummy...
But there are up on a "
No, no, bad cat, get down, *hiss* hiss*, access denied" zone.
So I have controlled myself. If they don't disappear within a few days however...
THEY WILL BE MINE!!!

UPDATE: Saturday evening

Strange thingies are still here. Today, I will begin plotting my strategy as to how to take them-ALIVE!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I will take the yummies for my own tomorrow!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

UPDATE II: Sunday morning

Strange thingies are still here. But I heard GoG say she is going to use them. Harrumph. I am most displeased... The laws of Catly Ownership say that "If it looks like mine, it's mine. If it smells/looks/sounds/tastes good, it's mine. If I want it, it's mine." And I really WANT THEM!!!

I do not like her

I do not like her here or there.
I do not like her anywhere.
I do not like her snow white paws.
I do not like her unsheathed claws.
I do not like her growl and hiss.
I do not like her grumpy spitz.
I do not like her, Cat I am.
I think her royalty's a sham.

Just sayin'

A Belated Friday Five

Can you believe Daylight Savings Time is here already? It's hard to get used to the new, earlier onset. My family has been getting up and out a little late and a little sleepy in the mornings.

And can you believe that in two days it will be Palm Sunday for Western Christians? Our Lent is almost over, while our Orthodox sisters and brothers, whose liturgical year follows the older Julian calendar, are just starting theirs. Nicholas did a recent book report on George Washington, and we were surprised to find out that our first President's birthday was originally Feb. 11, since he was born just before the change to the Gregorian calendar. Apparently the change almost caused rioting, as some indignant people were sure that they were being cheated out of eleven days of their lives!

To help you adjust--and enjoy the process--here's a Friday Five about time and transitions....

1. If you could travel to any historical time period, which would it be, and why?
I wouldn't travel back. Too many problems with people. Especially the times when they hurted kittehs who hung out around weird ladies.

2. What futuristic/science fiction development would you most like to see?
A way of petting me without actually touching me.

3. Which do you enjoy more: remembering the past, or dreaming for the future?
Dreaming for the future. I don't like my past. It was bad bad bad bad BAD!

4. What do you find most memorable about this year's Lent?
I didn't do lent. I didn't know about it until now.

5. How will you spend your time during this upcoming Holy Week? What part do you look forward to most?
My family being back. Everyone was gone last night. But they're all back, so they should stay put for a bit.

The Middle Name Game

My middle name is Christine, because I call Raaaaaaoul all the time like someone called Christine in The Fantom of the Oprra. Dogblogger tagged me.

Here are the rules:

1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.

2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name or your mother's maiden name).

3. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person (or blogger of another species) for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged.)

C is for cute. GoG always tells me I am. And she's quite right.

H is for honest. If I want something, I tell GoG what I want.

R is for rabble rouser. GoG calls me one when I run around too much, and annoy TOC.

I is for intelligent. I understand commands like 'come' and 'scoot' and 'high five' and 'dainty.' Plus, I can use the other Shiny-screen without getting caught. Hee hee...

S is for sneaky. I creep around all night, and TOC doesn't even hear me. I also can eat TOC's snack without her noticing. Hee hee again...

T is for talented. I can type by myself, and I do high-fives for Greenies. I also can smack a ball down the steps, and then carry it up in my mouth.

I is for intangible. NO ONE is allowed to touch me. Except GoG and Bearded Scritcher (sometimes).

N is for necessary. The house couldn't get along without me. That's just the way it is. I don't know how they managed before they got me.

E is for effective. I make a huge impression in the household. I have everybody do exactly what I tell them to, and they shape their lives around me.

I hafta tag 9 people. So I tag... GoG, Littleman, tiggie foc, Spooky, Molly, The Crew, Tanner, TOC, and Jasper. (I couldn't figure out how to leave a comment on Jasper's blog, so I hope he reads this).
